שָׁבוּעַ טוֹב‏ - Good Week- Shavua tov

As שָבָת Shabbat, the Sabbath ends here in Israel, we say

שָׁבוּעַ טוֹב

‏Shavua tov

Good week

Sunday, יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן Yom rishon in Hebrew,

Yom rishon, is the first day of the week.

Rishon רִאשׁוֹן means first and it is from the root רֹאשׁ

Rosh, which means head.

The head of the week—Yom Rishon. יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן

Yom Rishon. יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן is the day of resurrection.

Yom Rishon, יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן the first day,  is the day of beginnings.

Look at the first word in the Bible. בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית

Again we see the root ראש head - the second, third and fourth letters are the root.

בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

B’reishit bara Elohim et hashamayim ve’et ha’aretz.

In the Bible the day begins at sunset of the previous day.

וַֽיְהִי־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי־בֹ֖קֶר

va-yehi erev va-yehi boker

…And it was evening and it was morning…

Just as we say שבת שלום Shabbat Shalom on Friday evening as Sabbath begins, we say Shavua Tov on Shabbat evening as the first day of the week begins.

שָׁבוּעַ טוֹב

Shavua Tov dear brothers and sisters. Good week.

Blessings in the name above all names, Yeshua our resurrected King. He is the Rosh, the Head. The Beginning and the End. Alpha and Omega. In Hebrew, the Aleph and the Tav.

See how many times you can find the root ראש rosh, head, in Colossians 1:18.

"הוּא הָרֺאשׁ שֶׁל הַגּוּף, כְּלוֹמַר, שֶׁל הַקְּהִלָּה. הוּא הָרֵאשִׁית, בְּכוֹר מִבֵּין הַמֵּתִים, לְמַעַן יִהְיֶה רִאשׁוֹן בַּכֺּל,"

אל הקולוסים א:18

Which English words do you think correspond to the concept of rosh in its various forms in this verse?

Colossians 1:18

18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
